Bruce Peninsula Environmental Film Festival

The Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory and Bruce Peninsula Environment Group will be hosting the 2nd annual Environmental Film Festival. The Festival will offer classic movies and documentaries with the theme THE COST OF GREED. Each film will be introduced by Dr. Stephen Scharper, Associate Professor of Environmental Ethics at the University of Toronto, with eight years experience teaching film studies. Each showing will be followed by a discussion (optional) mentored by Dr. Scharper.

Blackout Day

People, Businesses, Cities and Schools are invited to conserve energy by powering down for the day and having fun with the lights off!
Blackout Day recognizes a massive Blackout that occurred on August 14, 2003.
It was the largest blackout in North-American history, and affected significant portions of the Northeastern United States and most of Ontario for up to 3 days in some areas.

Congratulations to the City of Owen Sound for signing up to participate. Let's make it count!

IJC Meeting re:Georgian Bay Water Level

part of the Upper Great Lakes Study so it's ever so important that many affected citizens attend the meetings and LET YOUR VIEWS BE KNOWN. The meetings closest to us are:

Kincardine's Fourth Annual World Peace Day Celebration

Friday, Sept 12th 7pm - Kincardine
James Loney will be the keynote speaker at the Kincardine's Fourth Annual World Peace Day Celebration at the Royal Canadian Legion - 219 Lambton Street, Kincardine.

Loney, as a member of the Christian Peacemaker Teams, was captured and held for almost four months by Iraqi insurgents. His experience has allowed him to understand why military force has limited and often negative effects, compared with mediation and non-violent negotiations.
