SOUTHGATE WINDY FIELDS ENERGY COOPERATIVE is pleased to sponsor a Renewable Energy Tour to be held on Saturday, 20th September. The Tour will start with registration at 9 am at Swinton Park Community Hall in Southgate Township and will consist of visits to four locations in our area where people have met their energy needs from wind or sun.
** A residence which is completely off grid and all power is supplied by a 5 kw wind turbine with battery bank.
** A residence which is completely off grid with high thermal mass using solar thermal and with all power supplied by solar photovoltaic panels and battery bank.
** A dairy farm on a net metering system where a substantial portion of the energy needs are supplied by an 80 kw wind turbine.
** A residence on a net metering system where a substantial portion of the energy needs are supplied by both solar photo voltaic panels and a solar thermal hot water system and which has a geo-thermal heating system.
The Tour will feature two visits in the morning and two in the afternoon. A sit-down lunch will be served at midday. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions. This will be a treasure-trove of information for those interested in introducing renewable energy into their lives.
