Sauble Beach, Ont.
Our bodies are roughly 70 percent water. There is no life without water. The earth’s rivers and lakes are the umbilical cord that nourishes us, while the oceans are our collective amniotic fluid. The Great Lakes are the largest system of fresh, surface water on earth, containing roughly 18% of the world supply, providing drinking water to 8.5 million Canadians. In contrast, worldwide, one billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Let’s give thanks to the water that nourishes us, pray for its protection, and offer it our blessing.
How to participate:
· Gather family, friends and/or members of your spiritual/faith community, choose a short prayer or mantra, or compose your own prayer for the planet’s water
· Find, make or buy a string of beads, mala or rosary that you can use to count while walking, rolling one bead per recitation of your prayer or mantra.
· Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the 6th St. N. change house at Sauble Beach for a short multi-faith reading of prayers in gratitude for water. (email sdk@log.on.ca if you would like to read your prayer in front of the gathering)
· Walk the beach in prayer until you finish your 1000 recitations, silently or out loud, giving thanks to the Great Lakes and the water that nourishes us, and praying for its protection.
· Participate in a vegetarian potluck lunch on the beach at 6th St. N., 1:00-3:00 p.m.
· If you are unable to come to Sauble, consider a similar event in your area
· Everyone welcome. Please join us.
